What I’m Watching Instead of The NBA Playoffs

Part 2

NHL Playoffs might be up there right behind March Madness in terms of pure intensity.

Personally, March Madness and then NFL Playoffs are my FavoRight (FavoRight is my Grandmother’s term so don’t try and steal it. She’ll bounce you dawg)

But thats probably because the time of the year and time spent with family and the Cowboys ruining my Uncle’s Day. Tehe

And i’ve always enjoyed NHL Playoffs but they really have been a lifesaver now that I’m boycotting the NBA.

I walked in on the 76ers winning, and as a Laker fan i’m happy to see the Celtics fall. I pray the 76ers comeback and then take down the inevitable West coast team, the Thunder. A team i used to root for secondarily during the Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Ibaka, and Collison Era. Now, i wish nothing but ill on that whole team and their delusional, cocky, blind fanbase. Jared McCain became exactly who we thought he would be. Another wacky waving inflatable tube man. Pathetic. Paint your nails with the lettering of “Flops Always”. Just grotesque man.

I saw his foul-baiting highlights, and if i didn’t hate him enough because he’s a Duke Blue Devil, i do hate him even more for propagating Soccer like flopping in what once was the pre-dominant leading sport in the world.

That predomination was thanks to Michael Jordan, Your Airness gave he us everything we ever could need out of a superstar and he predicted everything wrong with the NBA today. If only you MJ were NBA Commissioner for a day. The Old Guard and former glory of my former FavoRight thing would be at least close to what it once was.

Now, i know some of playoffs are great even though i’m not watching. I’m happy if you enjoy it, i just simply cannot. I’m not sure I’ll ever be back. I want the NBA to be apart of my culture. Almost more than anything, but i don’t need it to be. I learned that in Catholic school, a biblical lesson what you want and what you need in life, and the current NBA is no longer a need nor a want.

I hope more than anything that it can return to its former glory, but its unlikely.

You see a big reason i like the NHL is because these 5’7”-6’2” guys are willing to die out there in the regular season and even more so in the playoffs. The NBA and Adam Silver don’t understand that their product in the playoffs is only as good as its regular season. Based on regular season intensity, the playoffs will rise from that and play at an intensity a little higher than the already established norm.

The NBA you can’t fight scared and expect to win the fight. (In terms of entertaining basketball – it’ll be good, but constantly great? Doubt it.)

Just like how Wemby went down the other night. You try to protect your stars so much that a defender would rather leave a guy falling to the ground than play actual defense, but thats a conversation for another blog.
